01

A food scanner with a human option

Foodvisor is one of the more grown-up apps in this category. It came out of France, its food recognition is strong on European dishes and supermarket products, and it does something almost nobody else here offers: it will connect you to a real, qualified dietitian who looks at your logs and gives you advice.

Navilo Health starts at the same photo. Snap the plate, get items back with calories, protein, carbs and fat, correct anything that looks off. Where we differ is what surrounds that scan, and who is doing the coaching.

02

Foodvisor’s two advantages

Start with regional accuracy. If you eat mostly European food, Foodvisor often names dishes and packaged products more confidently than a general-purpose model will.

Second, and more importantly, human coaching. An AI coach is fast, patient and free of charge, but it’s not a registered dietitian. If you’re managing a medical condition, or you know that only a real person will keep you accountable, that option matters.

03

Coaching included, or coaching added on

Foodvisor treats food as the whole picture. It has light activity and water tracking, but no GPS run or walk tracker, no sleep log, no fasting timer, and the coaching that makes it special sits behind an extra fee on top of a roughly $60 a year subscription.

That leaves the questions most people have unanswered inside the app. Did the walk pay for the pastry? Is a run of bad nights behind the evening snacking? Why did the logging quietly stop after Wednesday?

Navilo builds the day around the scan instead. Runs tracked with GPS sit next to the meals that fuelled them, sleep sits beside the snacking, and the AI coach reads all of it, so answers come from your own numbers instantly and at no extra cost. Streak freezes and buddy challenges catch the weeks when motivation dips.

04

Sixty dollars, plus the dietitian

Roughly $60 a year gets you Foodvisor Premium. Dietitian programs are extra. Add a run tracker, a sleep app and a fasting timer from elsewhere and you’re running four subscriptions and four separate histories.

Navilo starts free with an optional Premium tier, and the coach, runs, sleep, fasting, water and meal plans are all in the one app, sharing the one history.

05

Dietitian, or everything in one app

You eat mostly European food and want the option of paying a real dietitian to guide you. That combination is hard to find anywhere else.

You would rather have coaching included than sold separately, with your runs, sleep, fasting and food living in one place. That’s the trade we made, on purpose.

Foodvisor questions we get asked

Can Navilo Health take over from Foodvisor?

Yes. Navilo Health scans meals from a photo like Foodvisor does, then adds an AI coach, GPS run and walk tracking, sleep, a fasting timer, workouts, water and weekly meal plans. Foodvisor focuses on food recognition plus optional human dietitian programs.

Which app recognises European food better?

Foodvisor has an edge there. It was built in France and its database leans European, so local dishes and supermarket products are often recognised more reliably. Navilo uses general-purpose vision AI, which handles most plates well but is less regionally tuned.

What does a year of each app work out to?

Foodvisor Premium is roughly $60 a year, and dietitian coaching programs cost extra on top. Navilo Health is free to start with an optional Premium tier, and AI coaching is included rather than sold as a separate program.

What is worth paying Foodvisor for?

Human expertise. You can pay for a program with a qualified dietitian who reviews your logs and answers your questions, which an AI coach can’t fully replace. Its European food recognition is also strong.

AI coach or human dietitian: which should I choose?

If you have a medical condition or need accountability from a qualified professional, pay for Foodvisor dietitian support. If you want instant answers based on your own logged data, at any hour, without a separate fee, Navilo AI coach is included and reads your full history.
